At Oxford TEFL, we know that getting legal is a top priority for most non EU applicants. The Czech Republic is known for its bureaucracy but fear not! We’re here to help! http://www.oxfordtefl.com/locations-accommodation/oxford-tefl-in-prague/visa-support/ Zlata is Czech, who speaks English and knows the process first-hand. She works with our graduates to assist them in becoming legal in the Czech Republic and is completely on top of the situation! Zlata helps foreigners with all immigration matters. Her main focus with our graduates is to obtain a long-term Czech visa on the basis of a Zivnostensky list – essentially a trade license for teaching English. The advantages of working on a “Zivno” rather than a regular employment permit are numerous: the Zivno allows you to work for multiple schools or companies throughout the Czech Republic, and start and leave jobs when you want without fearing for your visa status. Basically, you become your own business. Language schools like it too, as it saves them the hassle of paperwork when hiring you. There are companies that charge over 1000€ for helping you get a Zivno. Zlata will charge you a fraction of this and comes highly recommended. If you would like to talk to a graduate who has worked with Zlata, just contact Karin on tesol@oxfordtefl.cz. http://www.oxfordtefl.com/locations-accommodation/oxford-tefl-in-prague/ http://www.oxfordtefl.com/oxford-tefl-courses/tefl-certificate/

SOUNDBITE (English) Vera Ivanovicova, project manager of Unit for Migration, Czech Ministry of Labour: "The statistics are completely clear. In the year 2030 there will be a lack in the Czech labour market of 420,000 people so I think it''s a clear message to do something about that. " 5. Various people in the centre of Prague 6. SOUNDBITE (English) Ivo Kovachev, investment manager of the Driehouse Capital Management: "I think it''s a very good idea, not only from my point of view, but the idea is to bring some educated or skillful people here and they think, the fact that they started the programme, means that the Czech Republic recognises that they need such people. It''s an opportunity for people from Bulgaria and Kazakhstan no doubt because whatever we say the economic factor in the Czech Republic affects in the reforms and the transition. Average salaries are much higher here, life is pretty good I guess Prague is a beautiful city, so it''s better for many of those people to come here, actually." 7. SOUNDBITE (English) Jan Schroth, International Organisation for Migration (IOM): "The prime minister, Mr Spidla, the Czech Prime Minister, he also said that for the Czech Republic all the immigrants who want to come here are important, to stay here, to work here, (they) will be positive for this country." 8. SOUNDBITE (English) Ivo Kovachev, investment manager of the Driehouse Capital Management: " I have the opportunity to do investments across the whole region, not only eastern Europe, but the whole of Europe and I can help my country by being here because if I see some good investments there I go and put the money there. And I still write articles for instance in the Bulgarian media on economy problem and political problems. " 9. Wide shot Skoda advert on top of building 10. C & A sign on building 11. SOUNDBITE (English) Vera Ivanovicova, project manager of Unit for Migration, Czech Ministry of Labour: "It is in the text of the project that it should be opened to all states in five years, except the EU because they will have no need of such a project. But for the rest of the world it should be opened after five years of the pilot phase of the project." 12. Pull out to wide of Prague STORYLINE: The Czech Republic is trying to woo non-EU citizens to fill the skills gap created by the "brain drain" they fear will occur once Czechs become European Union citizens next year. The country''s unemployment rate is currently running at 10 per cent. But the population is ageing and the birth rate is falling, resulting in a shortage of specialist workers, such as doctors and IT workers. A new scheme will offer permanent residency to high skilled individuals in the fields of technology and medicine. The project will not actually help foreign workers get jobs, but once they have found employment in the relevant field they will be fast-tracked for permanent residency over two-and-a-half-years instead of ten. The majority of the participants in the pilot scheme come from Croatia, Bulgaria and Kazakhstan. Ivo Kovachev is an investment manager for an American company Driehouse Capital Management represented in Prague. Kovachev, moved to Prague from Bulgaria in 1996. Last year he was named as the best investment manager of Europe in the Czech Republic. Kovachev is just the type of highflyer that the Czech Government wants to keep in the country and he has been awarded a permanent work permit thanks to the new programme. But the new scheme has its critics. And public opinion on immigration is still divided. The country is still getting used to being a country of net immigration. A Schengen Visa is the document issued by the appropriate authorities to the interested party for visiting/travelling to and within the Schengen Area. The Schengen Area is comprised of 26 countries that have agreed to allow free movement of their citizens within this area as a single country. Of the 26 countries bound by the Schengen agreement, 22 are part of the EU and the other 4 are part of the EFTA. Schengen area covers the majority of European countries, except for the United Kingdom and countries such as Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus and Ireland soon to be part of the agreement. However, there are countries that are not part of the EU like Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Lichtenstein yet do belong in the Schengen area and cherish the free movement policy. Employment and Business in the Czech Republic after the New Immigration Act Amendment - Kateřina Lenochová from the biggest Czech relocation agency Foreigners.cz explains (http://www.foreigners.cz/). August 2017 brought significant changes for foreigners in terms of both residency status and running a business. What does the new Immigration Law Amendment mean for the foreign nationals in the Czech Republic? An applicant for renewal of Employee Card has the opportunity to find a new employment within 60 days of the termination of his or her employment, for which the employee card was issued to him or her, and to apply for an approval of the change of his or her employer no later than within this time limit. One of the major modifications in the new Amendment refers to the possibility of switching the purpose of stay to business purpose. Before August 2017, you could change the purpose after 2 years of living in the Czech Republic, but the newly implemented Amendment requires at least 5 years of residency (not applicable on family dependence visa). You can apply for permanent residence after 5 years of your stay in Czechia. In the meantime, you can repeatedly prolong your business visa to wait out the 5-year period.
